Job Title:  Childcare / Nursery Worker

 

Reports to:  Holly Jones, Manager Administration & Communications (MAC)

Remuneration: $15.50 – 20 /hr, 1.5-2 hrs per session, mostly Sunday mornings, paid monthly.

 

Job Summary:  The Childcare Workers are responsible for the wellbeing and care of the youngest community members of the UCG – the babies and toddlers in the nursery.  The Childcare Worker will work with the other Childcare Workers to provide supervision, structured play activities, and a safe nurturing environment for toddlers up to and including four years of age (may include ages 0 – 8 if there are no other childcare programs in operation).  The children are not only to be cared for with regards to their physical safety.  They are also to be encouraged to develop in accordance with the Unitarian principles – with respect, equality, compassion and integrity.  

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Care for the youngest children of the UCG community in a safe, nurturing and enjoyable atmosphere.
  • Ensure that all the children in the nursery have had registration forms filled in and that parents/guardians sign them in and out.
  • To be aware of any allergies or other issues the children might have, and receive permission to help with toileting for any children needing this help.
  • Follow the Safe Steps Policy, as presented by the MAC.
  • Keep the nursery and contents clean and tidy.
  • Report any problems with the furniture, toys or equipment to the MAC immediately as well as write a message in the Nursery Log.
  • Arrive on-time and stay until the end of the shift.
  • Respond to the MAC to book shifts quickly.
  • Inform the MAC as soon as possible if you can’t make it to a scheduled shift and find a replacement.
  • Other duties that may be mutually agreed to by the MAC and the Childcare Worker.

 

Please note that if selected for this position you will be required to obtain a vulnerable sector police check. (UCG will reimburse you for the cost).
